The theoretical and practical results of the common work of the three participants have
been presented at the regular GET Meeting in Brest/France. The team
of the ENST Bretagne prepared a video of the proposed solution for GPRS/WLAN cooperation. The teams of INT Evry
and ENST Paris could show a demonstrator: an open platform
integrating a network access control element, network access point,
edge router and service discovery mechanisms.
This
page shows some impressions from this demonstration. Click on images
for the bigger version. The images contain some explanations (in red
on black)
The
general setup consisted of one integrated RESACO access point, two
users with different roles/authorizations, one multimedia source
with different software media servers installed and a central access
control console implementing the necessary administration utils and
servers.

setup
The next image shows
the two user clients and the integrated access point.

Image 2: The integrated access point and the two user clients
This image shows one
of the user client with its vision of the deployed RESACO network.
As you can notice, the UPnP service discovery not only provides a
"true" network identity but also follows a common API providing
standardized access to service information. The detected services
are allowed in user's service profile, thus providing network
adaptation.

Image 3: Screenshot from one of the user machines
Here
you can see both user clients. You can see that the discovered
services are not the same (see UPnP consoles on both laptops)
although the users are logged into the same networks.

Image 4: Different users obtain a different network environment
through the same physical 802.11 network (the same BSS)
The
administrator can see the current network situation and actively
influence it by changing user profiles. She can add users and
services and assign services to user profiles.
