- Pyrene
Pyrene, "fire" in Greek, daughter of Bebryx, was a maiden loved by Heracles.
He raped her, and from that violence bore a snake.
She was terrified at what she had given birth to, and fled into the mountains
where she was devoured bu wild animals.
The mountains are called the Pyrenees today.
