- The Night
The Night, goddess of darkness, daughter of Chaos, is the most ancient of
the divinities. She married her brother Erebus, gave birth to
the Ether, the upper regions of the atmosphere, and to the Day. But she also
created children by herself:
- Fate, the ultimate agency that predetermines the course of events is a
blind divinity. All other divinities are under its control, submissive
to its will. Even Zeus, the most powerful god of all is not able to take
control of Fate.
- Hypnos, the god of sleep.
- Momus, the god of blame and mockery.
- The Hesperides, nymphs who keep watch with a dragon over the golden apples
in the Islands of the Blesses.
- The Fates, three goddesses named Atropos, Clotho, Lachesis control the
destinies of man's lives. They are likened to skeins of thread that
they spin, measure out, and at last cut.
- Nemesis, the goddess of retribution and vengeance.
- Death, Sad Old Age, Fraud, Concupiscence, Discord, Famine, Hunger and more.
