- The Entombed Woman
This Balkan fairy tale tells the story of three brothers and builders as
well who try to construct a castle wall. Once they think that the wall is
properly built, the wall collapses. After that, they try and try again to
build it, but without success. One day, an old hermit comes up to them and
offers them a solution. He says that one of their wives who will bring the
lunch tomorow, will have to be entombed alive inside the wall. Thanks to
this, the wall won't collapse any more. He adds that only Fate will choose
the wife and also he warns them not to reveal anything of this to their
wives. But the two eldest brothers do not respect the promise and tell
theris wives not to turn up tomorow. Finally, this is the youngest one's
wife, who has got a baby, who brings the lunch and consequently is entombed.
